Route 224 Project Begins Today
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Work will get underway today on a $5.4 million project at Interstate 680 and U.S. Route 224 in Boardman.
The scope of work for the project includes widening the U.S. Route 224 bridge over Interstate 680 in Boardman, replacing a culvert on Route 224 just east of I-680 and also making modifications to the Route 224/I-680 interchange, officials with the Ohio Department of Transportation said.
During the beginning phase of this project, various nightly lane restrictions will be in place between Route 224 and Tiffany Boulevard. These restrictions will occur nightly between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. As the project continues, Route 224 will eventually be reduced to one lane in each direction and various ramps will have occasional closures at the Route 224/I-680 interchange.
Members of the ODOT District 4 public information office will be on hand this week to distribute brochures to businesses in the proximity of the project. These brochures will notify businesses of work restrictions, provide project details and also have contact information.
