Regional Chamber Reports Jobs, Investment Numbers
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber reports it’s worked on economic development projects through the third quarter 2014 that resulted in the creation of 479 jobs and the retention of 450 jobs.
The total investment of these completed projects, according to the chamber, is $121.1 million with the new annual payroll to be generated estimated at nearly $24.7 million.
The year-to-date numbers are reported in the chamber’s economic development newsletter dated November 2014.
“Our staff is currently managing an array of projects that we hope to announce in the next 12- to 24 months,” the chamber said. These pending projects would result in 976 new jobs, the retention of 2,038 jobs, total investment of nearly $1.4 billion and new annual payroll of $40.4 million.
The chamber report notes that 63 inquiries have been received this year “from companies or consultants interested in exploring opportunities in the Valley,” resulting in 33 companies touring available properties.
Efforts continue to work with existing companies, the chamber said. To that end, 1,074 “retention and expansion visits” have been completed.
“While conducting these one-on-one visits, we’re able to determine the needs of the business community, in regards to assistance in financing, grants tax credits, local resources and more,” the chamber said.
