Three New Permits Issued for Columbiana County
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources last week issued 13 new permits for horizontal wells in the Utica shale, three of which are in Columbiana County.
ODNR released three permits to Atlas Noble LLC, based in Philadelphia, to drill wells at the Firestone Homestead pad in Unity Township. These are the first three permits issued to the company in Columbiana County, records show.
The state agency also issued new permits to Chesapeake Energy for four horizontal wells in Carroll County, all on the Shaw property in Lee Township.
A single permit was issued last week to Enervest Operating LLC for a new horizontal well in Tuscarawas County, ODNR reported.
There were no new permits issued for either Mahoning or Trumbull counties for the week ending Aug. 31, records show.
Five additional permits were awarded to companies exploring the southern tier of the play, according to ODNR data.
Three permits were issued to Chevron Appalachia LLC for wells the company plans to develop in Harrison County in Freeport Township.
Two other permits were awarded to Hall Drilling LLC for wells in Bethel Township, Monroe County, ODNR reported.
Monroe County has recently become a focal point of productive activity in the Utica. In midAugust, Denver-based Antero Resources reported strong results from five wells its drilled in Monroe, namely the Yontz well, which peak tested at a whopping 8,879 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
No new permits were issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection in either Mercer or Lawrence counties last week, records show.
