NiSource to Resurface Roads Near Processing Plant
SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- NiSource Midstream Services says it will spend $1.5 million to improve roadways near its $150 million processing plant now under construction in Mahoning County.
Work is to start Aug. 12 and finish by Aug. 30, NiSource officials announced during a meeting of the Springfield Township Trustees Monday evening.
"The communities of Mahoning County have been extremely supportive of the natural gas industry and have welcomed NiSource Midstream Services into the area warmly," Chad Zamarin, NiSource's chief operating officer, said in a statement. "We are pleased to be able to give back to the citizens of the area in a way that will enhance the living conditions and contribute to the safety of the residents in and around Mahoning County."
The project will include upgrades to Rapp, Felger, South Range and Metz roads in Springfield Township; Cowden, Moore, Arrel and Kansas roads in Poland Township; and county roads Miller and Columbiana.
NiSource and its partner, Hilcorp Energy Co., have formed Pennant Midstream LLC, a joint venture that is constructing the Hickory Bend Gathering System, a 55-mile wet-gas pipeline network that extends from western Pennsylvania through Mahoning County.
Part of the system includes Pennant's $150 million cryogenic plant along State Line Road in Springfield Township.
"The Mahoning County Engineer's office strives to design, build and maintain the safest, most efficient roadway network possible for the citizens of Mahoning County," said Mahoning County Engineer Patrick Ginnetti. "We appreciate this contribution from NiSource Midstream Services to help improve the infrastructure of Mahoning County."
