MarkWest Consolidates Offices in Washington County, Pa.
CANONSBURG, Pa. -- MarkWest Energy Partners is consolidating its two offices in southwestern Pennsylvania into one at the Southpointe business park in Washington County.
The Denver-based company is moving 70 employees who oversee its Liberty division into a 30,000-square-foot office building at 4600 J. Barry Court, reports the Pittsburgh Business Times. A spokesman said MarkWest has outgrown two others offices it occupied at Southpointe and on Morganza Road.
MarkWest's Liberty division includes its massive processing plant in Houston, Pa., and three others in West Virginia.
The Liberty segment is expected to generate 44% of the company's operating income this year, better than its processing operations in Texas and Oklahoma, which is expected to yield 40%, according to a presentation June 18 before investors.
The first phases of MarkWest's Bluestone and Sarsen processing projects as part of its Keystone complex in Butler County are finished, according to the presentation. The second phase of Bluestone is expected to be complete by the second quarter of 2014, while a third phase is also planned.
Meantime, MarkWest has invested nearly $1 billion in its Utica shale operations as it begins ramping up the first phase of its processing complex in Cadiz, Ohio.
According to the investor presentation, the Utica is projected to generate just 2% of operating income in 2013 because most of the infrastructure is still under development.
The first phase of Cadiz is finished, as is a refrigeration plant in Harrison County.
Another plant is under development in Noble County in the southern part of the state.
The Utica system will be able to handle 900 million cubic feet of processing capacity per day by the end of 2014, the company projects.
