22nd Well Permit Awarded for Hanover Township
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has issued a new horizontal well permit to Chesapeake Exploration LLC in Columbiana County, agency records show.
It is the 81st well permitted in county and the 22nd permit issued for Hanover Township, according to the ODNR. The permit was issued July 23 to Chesapeake for a future well at the Frank Zehentbauer farm.
ODNR issued seven new horizontal well permits for oil and gas exploration in the Utica shale last week, the agency reported.
Chesapeake received four permits, one in Columbiana County and three in Carroll County where the company is most active.
The agency also issued two permits to Hess Developments LLC for two wells in Belmont County and another horizontal permit to Gulfport Energy in Belmont.
No new permits were issued for Mahoning or Trumbull counties, according to ODNR's website.
In Pennsylvania, the state’s Department of Environmental Protection did not issue any new permits during the week for wells to be drilled in Lawrence or Mercer counties, the agency reported.
