U.S. News Names Cruze Best Compact Car for Families
WASHINGTON -- The Chevrolet Cruze, built in Lordstown, Ohio, is the best 2013 compact car for families, according to U.S. News & World Report. General Motors took home the most awards this year, with six of its models across three of its brands as winners.
The magazine's awards, which covering 19 categories, highlight the vehicles that provide the best combination of quality, features and space that today's families need, the magazine said. Other GM winners are the Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Traverse, Buick Verano, Buick Lacrosse and Cadillac Escalade.
"We created the Best Cars for Families awards to make it easier for parents to find cars, SUVs and vans that will help make their lives easier," said Jamie Page Deaton, managing editor of U.S. News Best Cars. "With such a broad range of award winners, any family can find the best car for their lifestyle."

- Upscale small car: Buick Verano
- Hatchback: Toyota Prius
- Midsize cars: Ford Fusion
- Upscale midsize car: Acura TL
- Full-size car: Buick LaCrosse
- Luxury full-size car: Mercedes-Benz E-Class
- Hybrid car: Ford Fusion Hybrid
- Wagon: Subaru Outback
- Compact SUV: Honda CR-V
- Luxury compact SUV: Audi Q5
- 2-Row midsize SUV: Jeep Grand Cherokee
- 3-Row midsize SUV: Chevrolet Traverse
- Luxury 2-row midsize SUV: Lexus RX 350
- Luxury 3-row midsize SUV: Lincoln MKT
- Full-Size SUVs: Chevrolet Suburban
- Luxury full-size SUV: Cadillac Escalade
- Hybrid SUV: Toyota Highlander Hybrid
- Minivan: Honda Odyssey
This year is the first year that Chevrolet, Jeep, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Lincoln have won Best Car for Families Awards. The Honda CR-V, Honda Odyssey, Lexus RX-350 and Toyota Highlander Hybrid have won Best Car for Families awards three years running.
The awards, and the U.S. News Best Cars website, are published by U.S. News & World Report. More than 27 million people researched vehicles on the website last year, the editors say.
