Shepherd Home Care Now 'At Home With Shepherd'
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Retirement Services has introduced a new brand identity for its home health care division. Formerly known as Shepherd of the Valley Home Health Care, the program is now called At Home With Shepherd.
The new name provides the organization a distinct identity in a health care sector that is becoming more and more competitive, said Don Kacmar, executive director of Shepherd. In this region of the country there is a high concentration of seniors, and more and more often they are seeking an alternative to an extended hospital or nursing home stay. “We’re seeing an increased interest on the part of clients, and their families, to recover from surgery or illness in their own home,” he noted.
The Medicare-certified home health agency will continue to offer a full range of services and specialized programs that are tailored to meet the individual requirements of each client. The goal of the service, says
“Of course, skilled nursing and physical rehabilitation provided in familiar surroundings remain key to recovery,” said Kris Siciliano, At Home With Shepherd's director, she says, “but help with day-to-day activities such as bathing, dressing, cooking and cleaning, even just having someone to talk to, play an important role in the process.” At Home With Shepherd takes a comprehensive approach to home health care by providing a wide range of non-medical services such as homemaker and companion programs as well as transportation and social service programs, she added.
Founded in 1972, Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Retirement Services is a nonprofit, locally owned company with five locations. In addition to the more than 600 people who make their home at the Boardman, Howland, Niles, and Poland Shepherd communities, 434 clients received services in their own homes and apartments last year.
