Regional Chamber VP Planey Leaving for NY Banking Job
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Eric Planey, who joined the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber four years ago to serve as vice president for international business attraction, is leaving to take a position in New York in the international banking industry.
Planey, a native of Youngstown, will leave the chamber in mid-September to take the position of vice president and client executive for the Leveraged Finance & Financial Sponsors Group of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp., according to a press release the chamber issued minutes ago.
While he joined the chamber staff to attract international business companies to the Mahoning Valley and help local businesses increase their exports, Planey also was heavily involved in the regional TechBelt Initiative, serving as co-chairman, and was the chamber’s point person in working with the growing oil and gas industry and its supply chain.
Tom Humphries, chamber president and CEO, praised Planey’s work and wished him well in his new position.
“Eric has been a significant asset to the chamber over the past four years. His work in international business attraction, the TechBelt and helping to grow the oil and gas supply chain has helped strengthen our Mahoning Valley economy,” he said.
