A’s Attic to Open in Adamas Jewelry and Gifts
BOARDMAN, Ohio -- A’s Attic will hold an open house Aug. 24 in Adamas Jewelry and Gifts from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m..
The “A” in “A’s Attic” is the first initial in the names of sisters Alise, Alexis and Alyssa Rafoth, who came up with the concept of providing trendy merchandise for babies through teens.
“It is very difficult to find trendy and cool gift ideas that teens would love,” said Alise Rafoth, who will be a junior at Canfield High School.
Buyers for other retail outlets might not be young enough to relate to middle school and high school students, she suggested, adding, “I wanted to focus on younger customers and felt it would be a great addition for Adamas.”
She discussed with her parents, John and Monica Rafoth, how to proceed with the venture and they advised her to prepare a professional PowerPoint presentation of her business plan. The sisters then presented it to their grandparents, Judy and Jim Rafoth.
After modifying the plan, the sisters and their mother attended the Atlanta Gift Show, where the many showrooms provided them with possibilities from around the world.
Alise Rafoth intends that part of the proceeds of A’s Attic be donated to the Stomp Out Bullying Organization. As someone once bullied herself, she says, she wants victims to know help is available and hopes to draw more attention to the problem.
