Farmers to Close Branches in Leetonia, Warren
CANFIELD, Ohio -- Farmers National Bank has announced that it will close its office in Leetonia and a second at 2910 Youngstown Road in Warren Oct. 1, notifying the employees last week.
It also notified its regulator, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, of its intent. Farmers said, “Prudent business practices surrounded the decision to close the affected branches.”
The two offices find themselves “with declining transaction counts,” Farmers said, and noted that customers increasingly favor online banking rather than visit an office to conduct their financial business.
The two offices are relatively close to Farmers branches far more heavily used, the bank said, hence it seeks the efficiencies gained by reassigning customers in Leetonia to Columbiana, 4.5 miles away, and customers at the office on Youngstown Road to its office in the Eastwood Mall, 2.1 miles away.
Customers at the Youngstown Road branch will continue to have access to the super ATM that will remain there, the bank announced.
The closing of the office in Leetonia will leave that municipality without a bank or bank branch.
