‘88 Hearts for YSU’ Piano Scholarship Drive
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- A free concert featuring Caroline Oltmanns, professor of piano at Youngstown State University, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Anne Kilcawley Christman Memorial Hall at Stambaugh Auditorium.
The concert is the launch of an endeavor to establish the endowed scholarship for piano students at YSU.
Oltmanns hopes to raise $10,000 to permanently endow a scholarship fund for piano students in financial need. The campaign, “88 Hearts for YSU,” is based on the 88 keys of the piano. Eighty-eight donations of $114 would allow the campaign to reach its goal, Oltmanns notes.
The professor of piano has performed extensively in Europe, South Africa and the United States. Her playing has been broadcast on radio and television stations worldwide. In addition to a wide variety of concerto and piano solo repertoire, she performs frequently and plays the debuts of works of contemporary composers. She has presented master classes and workshops in the United States, Switzerland, Germany, South Africa and Canada and is a Fulbright Scholar and International Steinway Artist.
