Youngstown Toastmaster Writes Chapter in National Book
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Dena DeLuco, president of Youngstown Executive 408 Toastmasters, has written a chapter in the book Heart of a Toastmaster. The book is by, for and about Toastmaster Club members.
Sheryl Roush, a Toastmaster and editor of the book, promoted the call for submission early this summer through social media, email, newsletters, blog posts, word of mouth and speaking engagements. Her efforts resulted in 210 submissions from Toastmasters around the world. DeLuco is one of 135 whose submissions made it into the book.
The book has significant meaning for DeLuco, who, in her chapter, “Leadership Through Service,” writes about the history of Executive 408. She writes about founding member Alan Deeley, a member more than 45 years, whom she describes as “a kind and competent leader, teaching and mentoring by his example.”
When DeLuco wrote the chapter, Deeley was an active member; he died June 28. "Alan taught me so much, not just about being a graceful speaker, but also how to be a better person," DeLuco recalled. She is 2013-2014 president of Executive 408 and a certified neurolinguistic programming success coach and hypnotherapist based in Boardman.
Heart of a Toastmaster book will be released next Wednesday at the Toastmasters International Annual Convention in Cincinnati.
