Youngstown Rotary Launches Winter Coat Campaign
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Rotary Club of Youngstown is partnering with Operation Warm to raise $10,000 to buy new, high-quality winter coats. The coats will be given to students at Harding Elementary School and other children in need, Bill Russell says.
Russell is chairman of the Rotary’s Operation Warm.
Last year, the Rotary raised $4,000 and provided 200 children with new coats. This fall the club plans to provide at least 500 children with new coats.
“Children will miss fewer days of school in the winter if they have a nice, warm coat to wear,” Russell said. “They are more confident and less likely to get sick.”
Operation Warm is a national charity that, in just over a decade, has provided new winter coats to more than one million children across North America. Every $20 contributed provides one child with a new winter coat, Russell says.
