YBI Ranks 11th on International Incubator List
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Youngstown Business Incubator is listed 11th among the 30 best university affiliated incubators in the world, according to the University Business Incubator Index, a research initiative based in Stockholm that specializes in benchmarking incubators.
While the list is primarily comprised of university based incubation programs, it was noted that YBI is not officially affiliated with Youngstown State University, although the two institutions work together closely to improve the region.
“YBI is proud -- and thrilled -- to have earned the recognition by UBII. This award really affirms the strength of YBI’s model of entrepreneurship,” stated Barb Ewing, chief operating officer of the YBI. “To be included on the same list with the programs housed at Rice University and Georgia Tech really speaks to the caliber of our programs, facilities and staff.”
YBI’s four-building campus is home to more than 30 portfolio companies with more than 300 employees and an average annual payroll of more than $25 million. Its campus is also home to a federally funded research and development center, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute.
YBI is part of the Ohio Edison Technology Incubator program and receives support from the Ohio Development Services Agency and the Entrepreneurial Signature Program through the Ohio Third Frontier Commission.
