Warren Native’s 'Typewriter Erotica' Show at Gallery
WARREN, Ohio -- The Trumbull Art Gallery will feature the "Typewriter Erotica" works of Warren native Eric David Lough this Saturday through April 27. An opening night reception where visitors can meet the artist is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday.
Lough is a photographer, abstract expressionist, "steampunk" artist and poet. He got his idea for the project from a few pictures he came across from the 1920s with the same title. Being an avid collector of antique typewriters, he decided to recreate and update the idea with his own means of self-expression, portraying the sensual partnership of skin and steel.
Once he found some willing models, he began planning his photography project by designing and building the sets for each shoot and using props to enhance the feel of the era he was trying to re-create. The project took nearly four months to complete.
Lough has had art shows at Art Mixx in Maui, Hawaii, and the Sketch Wine Bar in Denver. He is the author of four books of poetry, Sidewalk Blues, Insane Earth, The Baritones Came in Strong Making the Knees Go Weak, and Stupid Cupid and the B-Side Poems. His poetry has been published in several literary magazines worldwide.
The exhibit at Trumbull Art Gallery is made possible by grant from Warren Area Chamber of Commerce Education, Civic, Cultural and Educational Foundation Inc. and a grant from Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley.
