Voting Opens for DRS CommunIT Tech Giveaway
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Residents of the Mahoning Valley have the chance to vote for the nonprofit organization they believe should win the CommunIT technology giveaway and website makeover, says Mike Meloy, CEO of DRS.
Residents have until Aug. 18 to choose among the 21 finalists for the award, which includes at least $30,000 in technology equipment and services and a website makeover donated by PALO Creative.
Four other finalists will each receive an in-depth analysis of their technology systems and a technology roadmap to guide future efforts, Meloy says.
“This will give Mahoning Valley residents a chance to show where they feel this type of investment is needed most and can do the most good for their community,” Meloy said in a prepared statement. “Many nonprofits are held back from reaching their full potential due to a lacking IT infrastructure, and we believe this will help remove that technology barrier.”
A committee made up of DRS employees selected the list of 21 organizations from the original pool of applicants. The applicants had to be Ohio-based nonprofits with a 501(c)3 designation. Residents can vote as many times as they wish for the nonprofit of their choice; the top five move on to the committee evaluation round when a selection committee comprised of six of local leaders from public and private industries will choose the winner.
DRS LLC is an information technology consulting firm and service provider that specializes in cloud services, managed services, data center operations and network infrastructure deployment including local area networks, wide area networks, VoIP and connectivity.
