United Way Day of Caring Set for Sept. 16
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The 16th annual United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley Day of Caring, sponsored by Covelli Enterprises, is set for Sept. 6, Tara Mady, director of marketing and communications, announced Thursday. The event marks the official start of the 2013 United Way Campaign.
The Day of Caring is a communitywide day of hands-on volunteering, Mady says. Employees of area companies participate by performing tasks, odd job, and organizing activities for nonprofit organizations. Projects could consist of painting, construction, landscaping, cleaning and home repairs.
Day of Caring not only helps local agencies to complete much-needed tasks, it gives volunteers an opportunity to see firsthand how these agencies serve their communities. Those who want to learn more or volunteer should call the United Way office at 330 746 8494. R
Thirty-four nonprofit agencies are partners with the United Way which in turn distributes funds for more than 70 programs the agencies oversee.
