Nominations Sought for ACH Children’s Advocate Award
BOARDMAN, Ohio -- Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley is accepting nominations for its Children’s Advocate Award. The award recognizes individuals and organizations throughout the Mahoning Valley who exhibit a spirit of caring and who are working to make a difference in the lives of the children of the community.
The winner will be honored at the “Champions for Our Valley’s Children” celebration May 14 at The Lake Club just south of Poland.
A nominee can be an individual, group of individuals or an organization and may be self-nominated. Nominees must reside in the hospital's service area that consists of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties in Ohio, and Mercer and Lawrence counties in Pennsylvania.
Criteria for the award are:
- Nominee demonstrates a deep, caring desire to help children.
- Nominee has taken action to address a problem facing local children or youth.
- Nominee has provided three or more years of service that directly affect the well-being of children.
- Nominee addresses a broad problem/issue that affects a large number of children or youth.
- Nominee demonstrates a long-term commitment to finding or developing solutions to the problem/issue, primarily at the local level.
- Nominee volunteers personal service over and above the expectations of his career or profession.
- Nominee promotes continuation of his advocacy or service by enlisting others to join in solving the problem/issue and enhancing the well-being of children and the community.
At the dinner, the hospital will recognize donors, volunteers, staff and community partners who have supported the hospital. Reservations are $50 per person and corporate sponsorships are available.
