NAMII Founding Director to Present at 3D Expo
BLAIRSVILLE, Pa. – Ralph Resnick, president and executive director of the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining, and Thomas R. Kurfess, a member of NCDMM’s board of directors, will speak at the Inside 3D Printing Conference and Expo, which begins today at the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago.
NCDMM was awarded the federal contract to develop the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, which opened in Youngstown last fall.
Both NCDMM officials will speak Thursday, the closing day of the event. Resnick, NAMII’S founding director, will present “Welcome to NAMII -- The AM Innovation Accelerator: Adventures in Additive Manufacturing and Public-Private Partnerships." The presentation will examine the inner workings of NAMII: its vision, its organization, its progress, and its experiences in developing a new model for innovation collaboration.
Kurfess, professor at the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, will address attendees on "Policy Considerations for Additive Manufacturing." Kurfess will discuss policy issues related to additive manufacturing, including intellectual property, science, technology, engineering and mathematics education; economics; security and innovation.
"It is an honor to address the attendees of the Inside 3D Printing Conference and Expo," Resnick said ina prepared statement. "Through NCDMM's award and management of NAMII, we have achieved much and learned a great deal from the NAMII model. I look forward to sharing those learnings with the attendees and familiarizing them with the work of NAMII."
