Manufacturers Invited to Coalition Event
LISBON, Ohio -- The Mahoning Valley Manufacturing Coalition is inviting interested manufacturers to attend an informational event on Feb. 17. Those who attend will learn more about why the organization formed, progress achieved to date and how to get involved.
"We're receiving many inquiries from manufacturers who want to learn more about our organization and what we're doing to address the workforce shortages that we all are facing," said Chuck Jackson, vice president of operations at Butech Bliss and Recruitment Committee chairman of the coalition. "We thought this would be a good opportunity for everyone who is interested in learning more to meet our current members, ask questions and find out how they can contribute to the conversation."
"We are very interested in rounding out our membership to include all sectors in manufacturing," added Jessica Borza, coalition executive director. "I'm telling manufacturers: Now is the time to make your voice heard. We are at an exciting point and are poised to make a real difference in addressing workforce shortages. Those manufacturers who contribute to the process will be first in line to benefit from the solutions that are developed along the way."
The Mahoning Valley Manufacturing Coalition was formed to provide a network for manufacturers to share ideas and resources to promote development of a skilled workforce, identify the skills needed by current employees and the future workforce, engage local educators and build awareness the career pathways to enter and succeed in skilled, high-wage occupations.
Founding members include BOC Water Hydraulics, Brilex Industries, Butech Bliss, City Machine Technologies, Compco Industries, Falcon Foundry, Girard Machine, Kiraly Tool and Die, Glunt Industries, Howland Machine, M-7 Technologies, Specialty Fab, Starr Manufacturing, Warren Fabricating & Machining Corp., and Warren Screw Machine.
Membership is open to manufacturers, suppliers and other businesses who serve the manufacturing industry. The informational session will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center. Those interested in attending are asked to call Sue Watson at 330 307 3399.
