Farmers Trust, Farmers Bank Give YBI $125,000
CANFIELD, Ohio -- Farmers Trust Co., a subsidiary of Farmers Banc Corp., this week awarded two grants for the Youngstown Business Incubator's five-year fundraising campaign. YBI will receive $50,000 from the Jane F. Lamb Charitable Foundation and another $50,000 from the William Neckerman Charitable Foundation, both administered by Farmers Trust.
In addition to these gifts, Farmers National Bank gave the YBI a donation of $25,000, the company reported.
The gifts recognize YBI's work developing high-tech start-up companies at its facilities in downtown Youngstown, said Jim Sisek, president of Farmers Trust. Of particular interest, he noted, is YBI involvement with the nation’s first National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute (NAMII).
“These grants represent an investment in the future of the community and its economic development," Sisek said. “Both YBI and NAMII represent the best in their respective fields -- not just locally, but in the country. Farmers Trust Co. is pleased to support two organizations that have been highly effective in their respective mission and which promise great accomplishments in the years to come.”
The namesake of the Jane F. Lamb Charitable Foundation was a Rayen School graduate who worked briefly for Youngstown Sheet & Tube before spending the bulk of her working life with the Vindicator. Lamb was known for her outstanding rose garden and active volunteerism. Her estate established the foundation after her death in 2004.
Neckerman of the William Neckerman Charitable Foundation was a mechanical engineer with Republic Steel who was also active with the Martin Luther Lutheran Church and the Youngstown Country Club. He was 101 when he passed in 2011.
