Dead Sea Scrolls Expert to Speak Sept. 16
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Dr. Adolfo Roitman, curator of the Shrine of the Book, Israel Museum in Jerusalem, will deliver a lecture on the Dead Sea Scrolls Sept. 16 at the Jewish Community Center.
The program includes lunch.
The Shrine of the Book, which houses the Dead Sea Scroll collection, is one of the world's top archaeological museums. Roitman lectures widely about the Dead Sea Scrolls and is the author of several books about the Dead Sea Scrolls including The Sectarians from Qumran: Daily Life of the Essenes, Envisioning the Temple. Scrolls, Stones and Symbols, and A Day at Qumran: The Dead Sea Sect and Its Scrolls.
The program is jointly sponsored by the Center for Judaic and Holocaust Studies at Youngstown State University and the Youngstown Area Jewish Community Center. Cost is $5 per person in advance and $8 the day of the event (including lunch). To make reservations, call 330 746 3250, Ext. 195.
