3-D Printing on Menu at LCEDC Annual Dinner
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Additive manufacturing will be in the spotlight at the Lawrence County Economic Development Corporation’s annual dinner reception, which will feature hands-on demonstrations of 3-D printers and presentations by staff from Applied Systems and Technology Transfer.
This year’s event, “Manufacturing in 3-D!,” is scheduled for 5-7:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at the New Castle Country Club. As part of the program, Dr. Irene Petrick of Penn State University will share her ideas regarding the impact of 3-D printing and advanced manufacturing. Also, 3-D printers will be available for a hands-on look at the technology, and Jack Scott and Julie Michael Smith from AST2, will be available to answer questions and demonstrate 3-D printing.
The manufacturing sector in Lawrence County, with 152 businesses representing over 3,600 employees and an average annual wage of $53,000, creates the most significant direct and indirect effect on the county's economy in terms of employment, wages, goods and services, the corporation said in a release announcing the event, notes LCEDC in its event announcement.
