HOWLAND TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- The Avalon Inn & Resort has completed a five-week restoration of its Junior Olympic-sized indoor swimming pool, reports Andrea Hathhorn, pool manager. This restoration is the latest in the total renovation process for the resort. Already included in this progression are the addition of the grand front entrance, the opening of a new restaurant -- Ristorante Allora -- and the initial phases of room renovations. The pool renovation included repair and painting of the 200,000-gallon pool, a total resurfacing of the 3,500 square foot pool deck as well as upgrades to both men's and women's locker room facilities and adjoining amenities. "Our goal is to continue to build off of a well-run aquatics program with comprehensive activities that will increase membership, member loyalty and exposure for the entire resort," Hathhorn says. The pool is open year-round to hotel guests and the public. Offering numerous instructional courses from beginner level to advanced, water aerobics and arthritis classes, the resort provides recreation to over 800 members in the community. Three-month, six-month and 12-month single, couple and family memberships are available for the facility. The pool also is used throughout the year for different programs, including after school swim teams and private parties, Hathhorn says.Avalon is hosting a pool open house today from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.Visit Avalon Inn & Resort: www.avaloninn.com"
