Ryan Urges Social, Emotional Learning Programs

Tim Ryan is joining eight of his colleagues to impress upon Education Secretary Arne Duncan the importance of implementing social and emotional learning (SEL) programs in new education initiatives. In a letter to Duncan, Ryan, D-13 Ohio, said statistical evidence and proven results show how such programs can improve student performance while reducing inappropriate classroom behavior and other student stressors.
Covelli Center Puts O'Charley's on Concession Menu

The O’Charley’s franchise is owned by Covelli Enterprises of Warren, the arena’s naming rights sponsor.
The addition of O'Charley's menu items has been “at the forefront of solidifying the fan's food and beverage experience by offering quality cuisine,” says the arena’s executive director, Eric Ryan, president of JAC Management Group.

New Accounts at Cortland Banks to Aid Food Bank
Thursday, February 28, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Cortland Banks is teaming up with Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley in March to help generate donations of food and funds for those in the Valley most in need. Throughout the month, Cortland Banks’ branches in Mahoning and Trumbull counties will donate $25 to Second Harvest for every checking account opened by a new deposit customer or referred by an existing customer.
The community is invited to drop off nonperishable food items at any Cortland Banks office in the Mahoning Valley during the month.
Most Workers Plan to Work after They 'Retire'
Thursday, February 28, 2013CHICAGO -- More people may be spending their golden years at the office. Sixty percent of workers ages 60 and older say they'll look for a new job after retiring from their current employer, up from 57% last year.
When the survey, conducted by Harris Interactive on behalf of CareerBuilder, asked how soon they think they can retire from their current job, 12% of respondents said they don't think they'll ever be able to retire.

It's a step forward from what the newly formed organization accomplished in 2012, noted Debora Flora, executive director of the land bank. That year, the land bank concentrated on acquiring vacant parcels and side lots and building inventory across the county.
Foreclosure, Delinquency Rates Down Slightly in Metro Area
Wednesday, February 27, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Foreclosure rates in the Youngstown-Warren-Boardman metropolitan area in December 2012 declined nearly a third of a percentage point from a year earlier, according to newly released data from CoreLogic, an economic research organization based in Irvine, Calif.
The foreclosure rate in December 2012 for the metro area was 4.37%, down from 4.68% in December 2011, a 0.31% decrease. December’s rate was up slightly from November’s 4.3% foreclosure rate.
