DuPont to Cut 3,500 Jobs By Year-End"
Tuesday, April 13, 2004WILMINGTON, Del. -- DuPont will reduce its global employee work force, excluding Invista, by 6%, or 3,500 positions, as part of its $900 million cost improvement program announced on Dec. 1, 2003. In addition, the company is reducing 450 contractor positions.During the period Dec. 1, 2003, to Dec. 31, 2004, the company expects to eliminate about 3,000 positions through severance programs and about 500 positions through normal attrition. The impact will be primarily in North America and Western Europe.

The fitness salon -- which is open to women only -- offers half-hour, assisted workouts. The new Curves is located on the ground floor of the Phar-Mor Centre and currently has five employees in addition to the owners."They wanted to sign up before we even had our first day of operation. They actually wanted us to take their money to go ahead and sign them up.

Ohio Governor Signs Medical Malpractice Stabilization Bill
Monday, April 12, 2004COLUMBUS -- Calling the ongoing escalation in medical malpractice insurance rates "a threat to doctors and their patients," Gov. Bob Taft today signed House Bill 282 authorizing establishment of a new Medical Liability Underwriting Association. Taft also called for additional measures to stabilize Ohio's volatile medical malpractice insurance market through a five-point plan."We are taking action to address the sharp increase in medical malpractice insurance costs faced by doctors throughout the state," Taft says.
National City Reports 133% Increase in Loan Fund for Women Business Owners
