Chamber Seeks WRPA Funds to Support Air Base

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – An initiative being launched by the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber aims to guard against the possibility of the Youngstown Air Reserve Station in Vienna Township being shut down or downsized.
South Avenue Stakeholders Form Steering Committee

YOUNGSTOWN -- About 20 representatives from businesses on South Avenue, community groups and local agencies took the first steps Wednesday toward formally organizing a business association for the corridor.
“We were hoping to get a core [membership]. We're not sure how many businesses are going to be involved, but we want about 40. Today, we got almost half,” said the Rev. Al Yanno Jr., pastor of Metro Assembly of God Church.
City Envisions Deck at Lot NYO Wants with 20 Federal

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The city wants to retain control of -- or at least the ability to use -- a parking lot near 20 Federal Place in case it gets the funds to build a parking deck on the site, Finance Director David Bozanich says.
The parking lot, at Wick Avenue and West Commerce Street, is a point of contention -- although not the only issue -- in discussions between the city and NYO Property Group. NYO submitted the sole bid last October in response to the city’s request for proposals.
CCPA Seeks Bids for Second Crane at Wellsville

EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio -- The Columbiana County Port Authority advertised for bids Monday to build an articulated crane to handle bulk materials exclusively at its Wellsville Intermodal Facility, CEO Tracy Drake reported last night
The overhead crane is so busy a second crane is needed, Drake told its board of directors at their reorganization meeting (READ STORY). Bids will be opened in early February, he said.
Columbiana Port Authority Adopts $5.57M Budget

EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio -- The Columbiana County Port Authority adopted a 2015 budget of $5.57 million Monday night after re-electing Charles A. Presley chairman.
Fiscal officer Penny Traina reported the port authority ended 2014 $1.11 million under budget, providing the organization with a healthy surplus to begin this year.
The five-member board also re-elected Keith Chamberlin, retired city manager of the city of Columbiana, vice chairman, Traina fiscal officer and elected attorney Nick Amato of Wellsville secretary.
