Hagan Urges Support for Fracking Petition
Monday, February 20, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – State Rep. Robert F. Hagan, D-60, is calling on Ohioans to sign an online petition urging action on fracklng legislation that that has been proposed in the state legislature.
The petition already is nearly three-fourths to its 200-signature goal, with 144 signatures as of 6 a.m. Hagan’s petition points out that five bills related to a moratorium on or regulation of fracking have been proposed in Ohio but there have been no hearings.
Shale Gas Job Fair Feb. 23 at Air Reserve Base
Friday, February 17, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Military and naval veterans will be interviewed Thursday, Feb. 23 at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Vienna Township, for jobs in the oil and gas industry in northeastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania.
The interviews set to run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., are part of the inaugural Veterans Hiring Event and Life Enhancement Fair sponsored the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber, ShaleDirectories.com and the Tip of the Arrow Foundation.
Mahoning County Courting $10 Million Frack Water Recycling Project
Wednesday, February 15, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Mahoning County officials are in discussions to land a $10 million project that would treat wastewater from hydraulic fracturing operations and recycle it for reuse in oil and gas exploration.
Mahoning County Sanitary Engineer J. Robert Lyden told officials Tuesday at a meeting of a newly formed shale development group that the county is in negotiations to sell one million gallons of water to an as yet unnamed recycling company at a rate of $6,000 a day.
"We're very close, but it's not a done deal," Lyden emphasizes.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012KENT, Ohio – When U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar wanted to see firsthand how oil and natural gas exploration is affecting mainstream America, he chose a company in northeast Ohio.
"I think this is great evidence that manufacturing is back, and there's a great nexus between manufacturing and natural gas," Salazar told reporters shortly after touring MAC LTT's liquid tank trailer plant here. "We need to move forward with job creation and with an energy agenda for the country."
