ODNR Permits New Wells in Mahoning, Columbiana
Friday, February 24, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Chesapeake Exploration has the green light to drill a new well in Mahoning County, three more wells in Columbiana County and another well in Carroll County.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources issued the five horizontal drilling permits this week, which will allow the Oklahoma City-based company to drill five new horizontal wells in the region .
Chesapeake CEO: More Utica Wells, 200 Miles of Pipeline
Thursday, February 23, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Chesapeake Energy Corp. said it plans to more than double its oil and wet gas production by 2015, creating more opportunity in unconventional shale plays such as the liquids-rich Utica shale in eastern Ohio.
Chesapeake CEO Aubrey McClendon said in a conference call Wednesday that shale formations such as Eagle Ford in east Texas and Utica, which runs deep underneath portions of the Mahoning Valley, present some of the best opportunities for growth in the industry and for the company.
Chesapeake, 3M Partner to Develop CNG Tanks for Transportation Market
Tuesday, February 21, 2012OKLAHOMA CITY -- Chesapeake Energy and 3M this week announced an agreement to collaborate in designing, manufacturing and marketing a broad portfolio of compressed natural gas (CNG) tanks for use in the United States transportation market.
The fuel tank on a CNG vehicle is its most expensive single component, the companies said in announcing the venture. The new CNG tanks developed through the partnership will reduce costs while increasing performance, which will enable greater market adoption of CNG as an alternative automotive fuel source.
Study Blasts Media for Negative Coverage of Hydraulic Fracturing
Tuesday, February 21, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Marcellus Shale Coalition, Canonsburg, Pa., is hailing a new study commissioned and funded by the University of Texas at Austin's Energy Institute that fauls media coverage of hydraulic fracturing as part of its overall finding that hydraulic fracturing “has no direct connection to reports of groundwater contamination.”
