Investment Advisers Report Few Security Breaches
Friday, November 14, 2014COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Asked about their cybersecurity practices, 3% of investment advisers who responded to a state survey said they have experienced a cybersecurity incident. The survey was conducted by the Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Securities.
In addition, 62% of firms said they have performed a cybersecurity risk assessment and 44% have policies and procedures directly related to cybersecurity.

Friday, November 07, 2014WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Small Business Administration 7(a) Loan Program reached another lending record in fiscal 2014, the agency announced Thursday. By the end of the fiscal year (Sept. 30), SBA had approved 52,044 7(a) loans for $19.19 billion, an increase of 12% in number loans and 7.4% in dollar amount over fiscal 2013.
Huntington Offers Checking Accounts that Pay Interest
Friday, November 07, 2014COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Huntington Bank has introduced two new checking accounts that pay interest, Huntington 5 Checking and Huntington 25 Checking. Mary Navarro, retail and business banking director, announced the new products Thursday.
To qualify for the Huntington 5 account, “Customers should have at least $5,000 in total relationship balances,” the bank said, to avoid a monthly maintenance fee. For the Huntington 25, the minimum is $25,000.
Holiday Spending to Average $538 Per Household
Friday, November 07, 2014NEW YORK -- U.S. households plan to spend an average of $538 on gifts this holiday season, up slightly from $528 last year, the Conference Board said Thursday.
Eight percent of consumers say they plan to spend more this year on holiday gifts, while 32% plan to spend less.
The remaining 60% plan to spend about the same as last year.
About one in three holiday shoppers say they expect more than half of their purchases will be on sale or discounted. An increasing number will click to shop online.
